I’m Stewart Rowley, the founder of Roley’s.

Like a lot of former athletes, I had to adjust when I stopped playing rugby. Training every day was gone, but the habits didn’t disappear overnight.

Working in the drinks industry meant beer was always part of the routine, and before long, I realised something simple: I still wanted to enjoy it, but I didn’t want the excess calories, sugar, or compromise that came with it.

I started looking for an option that felt lighter, without tasting like it.

What I found was a market split in two. Beers that were low-calorie but forgettable, or products packed with ultra-processed shortcuts. Nothing that felt premium, natural, or genuinely satisfying.

So I decided to build it.

I brought the idea to the brewer I was working with at the time. He told me, politely, it couldn’t be done.

That was all I needed.

The next year became an obsession: experimenting, refining, pushing every part of the brewing process until it delivered what I knew was possible. Fewer calories and carbs, added vitamins, full flavour intact.

That breakthrough became SmartBrew, the proprietary technology behind Roley’s.

Roley’s is here for people who want to live well and still raise a glass.
